Paddler 1 is a beginner’s kayaking course that provides the skills for safe paddling. Those who complete the course will be able to paddle independently on sheltered waters and participate in guided kayaking tours.
The course includes an independent online module, which must be completed before the course weekend. During the course days, participants will engage in practical water training. On the first day, they will learn basic paddling techniques and rescue procedures. On the second day, these skills will be applied on a kayaking tour.
Participants who complete the course will receive the Paddler 1 skill card, which is part of the Euro Paddle Pass system. The skill card is a prerequisite for joining guided tours and advanced courses. The course follows the Paddler 1 curriculum set by the Finnish Canoeing and Rowing Federation.
Swimming skills are required, but no prior kayaking experience is necessary to participate.
